sea bones - Lindsey Johnston

poetry ☆

poetry ☆

when uncertainty seeps into every crevasse of my marrow

i let my soul drift seaward

to the only place where my loneliness finds its match

a murky mist hangs over the vastness

and the wind tastes of salt and suffocation

inevitable waves gnaw at the shore’s bones,

washing over the brittle corpses of crustaceans

the driftwood I sit upon,

bleached, ghost-white and fossilized

remains proof that even what floats

will eventually sink into the depths of Salt.
