Eternal - Becca Colbert

My love spreads like ivy

Ever eternal and green

Clawing up the hillsides of a home a dawn

Pans children, thick busheled and stubborn

how many dawns have I collected under my eyelids,

And how many more will I have with Cronus on his spindle

Eternity is what is promised to us

Little Gods in a sandbox

Singing hymns on a cliffs edge

Both tragic and delightful at the same time.

I think about lying in bed next to a lover

Why do we like our reflection so much?

We know ourselves but forget

we see God in each others eyes.

I hear the birds chirping at midnight

What melody do they sing

That they wish not for sleep

But for each other instead

That is the mystery of the Gods

The apple and the Nectar have the same side effect

We do not fall far from our creators tree

Green ivy spills out of my chest and I feel warm

Pasithea overcomes me

You have dismantled my armor and my concert shell

Now I wear fear instead

Will you give me breath or the kiss of death

Poison would taste sweet from you
