Art exalté qu'il ne fait qu'observer;

(English Translation)

Transcendent is the poet’s love,

For art that rhymes with joy above.

An exalted art he only observes;

An art so loved, it’s more than he deserves.

The poet, whose hands have never known,

The burning curves of flesh and bone,

Transmutes his lust to heavenly grace,

In letters fair, his eyes embrace.

The lure of flesh, like a wicked sprite,

Grips him with a hand both soft and light.

A vicious passion he once made pure,

Could not the temptation of touch endure.
