Turning the Labyrinth — Sophie Elizabeth Daly- Atkinson

Her wolf-tongue between thighs,

stuck on a high note,

soprano ring in the night.

I turn my fists into clawed moonlight,

ripping stars from the thin sky –

a cry like a lit match

pulled across the sand,

white wings

cut through a storm cloud.

She hums,

and I am unwound,

sound tripping through bone,

unspooling the labyrinthine

voice –

fingers like summer sun

turning a Greek sea,

unbound on the flag-post,

inching forwards,

upwards,

where the siren-song laps the

shore,

to a dream

left on a red lip,

teeth

threading skin with

memory.

How we burn through

time,

weaving blood and

hunger,

night warming in our palms.
