i love you, i swear i do — Bria Corcuera

You carved a hole into yourself and molded the leftovers into the shape of my body. The hole is open still and I could swear it’s getting larger and I wonder if there’s a sleepwalking me who feasts on what’s left of you so I can grow.
You bleed out every day and I hate the noise.
You say you love me and I hate the noise.
You move through your life and I hate the noise.
When there’s nothing left of you, I wonder what I’ll miss and if the sleeping me will be hungry throughout the night. I can’t sleep without white noise and I can’t eat without sleep and I don’t know if I’ll grow and I wonder if I’ll want to when you’re gone. If I carve a hole into myself, will my leftovers become another you? Can I summon you back at will and will I regret it if I do? If you came from me, would you tell me?
If you did, I think I would hate the noise,
but please tell me anyways
and while you’re here tell me you love me.

They work in higher education providing accommodations for students with disabilities and creating community-based events for their school. Outside of campus, she can be found hanging out (typically eating) with family, making art with friends, and getting far too excited at the aquarium. An excessive overthinker, Bria has turned to writing as a means of organizing and conveying their innermost thoughts and to linocut as a meditative practice to finally quiet down their brain.
